Insight Communications Promotes Charlie Dietz To Chief Technology Officer

New York – December 13, 2001

Charlie Dietz has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer at Insight Communications, it was announced by Kim D. Kelly, Insight’s Executive Vice President, Chief Operating & Financial Officer.

“Charlie has been instrumental in executing our vision,” said Kelly. “Not only has he spearheaded an incredible rebuild effort, but he has been at the very center of our leading-edge deployments, from interactive digital, to high-speed data and telephony. His skills and leadership are key elements in Insight’s success.”

Prior to his promotion, Dietz served as Senior Vice President, Engineering, a position he has held since joining Insight in 1996. He oversees all technical aspects within Insight, including new technology development and implementation, system construction, and purchasing. In addition to the ongoing system rebuilds and headend consolidations, Dietz also implemented the subsequent deployment of the pioneering interactive Insight Digital platform, comprised of server-based guides and local content. His expertise was also critical in the launches of high-speed data in all major company markets, as well as video-on-demand. Under his guidance, Insight has also launched telephony service in two of its markets in the last year. In his time at Insight, Dietz has helped the company consolidate and grow from 170,000 subscribers to almost 1.5 million.

Dietz started his cable career in 1973 in Bergen County, New Jersey, working for Vision Cable Communications as an installer. In his 18 years at Vision, he advanced to many positions, ultimately becoming Vice President of Operations in 1991.

Insight Communications (NASDAQ: ICCI) is the 9th largest cable operator in the United States, serving approximately 1.4 million customers. The company is highly concentrated in the four contiguous states of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Named “2001 Cable Operator of the Year” by Cablevision Magazine, Insight specializes in offering bundled, state-of-the-art services in mid-sized communities, delivering analog and digital video, high-speed data and the recent deployment of voice telephony in selected markets to its customers.
