Time Warner, Insight Announce Advertising Interconnect Agreement Partnership will offer "one-stop-shopping" for advertising community

COLUMBUS, OH – January 29, 2001

Time Warner Communications, Columbus Division and Insight Communications today announced the formation of a “one-stop-shop” Interconnect Agreement that will provide maximum coverage, convenience and efficiency to local, regional and national advertisers.

The Interconnect Agreement will offer the advertising community one place to reach nearly 400,000 cable households throughout 19 counties, including the majority of the Columbus DMA and extending to homes in Athens and Zanesville. Beginning January 29, advertisers will be able to work with a single office to buy media time on 30 cable networks in the entire region or by targeted geographic zones.

“This Interconnect will provide our advertising customers with a streamlined approach to purchasing cable advertising in Central Ohio,” said Time Warner Communications General Sales Manager Laure Nordholt, who will manage the day-to-day operations of the new partnership. “Our consolidated sales efforts will enhance our efficiencies in the advertising sales process.”

The Agreement creates a limited liability partnership between Time Warner Communications and Insight Communications with Time Warner as the managing member. Time Warner will employ the entity’s 42 staff members, who will work from the Time Warner Communications Columbus Division office. The partnership’s Governing Board will include representation from both Time Warner and Insight.

Bill Gilbert, Insight Vice President of Advertising Sales, who will represent Insight on the Governing Board, said, “It just makes sense to simplify the process when you consider that the viewership on the ad supported cable networks has grown dramatically over the past few years. This is what the ad community wants and together, we will provide it for the greater Columbus area.”

Through the Interconnect, advertisers will have access to nearly 68% of the cable households in the Columbus DMA and 81% of the cable households in the six-county greater Columbus metropolitan area.

“We continually look for ways to improve service for our customers,” said Time Warner Communications President and Governing Board Representative Terry O’Connell. “I am excited about the tremendous success this Interconnect will provide our advertising customers, now and in the future.”

Time Warner Communications, Columbus Division serves 308,000 customers in 290 communities. It is a division of Time Warner Cable, which owns and manages the world’s most advanced, best clustered cable television operations, with 90 percent of its 12.7 million customers in systems of 100,000 subscribers or more. Time Warner Cable is a division of Time Warner Entertainment.

Insight Communications (NASDAQ: ICCI) is the 8th largest cable operator in the United States, serving approximately 1.4 million subscribers. The company is highly concentrated in the four contiguous states of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Insight specializes in offering bundled, state-of-the-art technology in mid-sized communities, delivering analog and digital video, high-speed data and, in the near future, voice telephony to its customers.
