1. Wide screen TVs will display 4:3 programs in this format unless set to “ Stretch.”
2. Turn on the 4:3 OVERRIDE feature in the User Settings menu. This will allow most wide screen TVs to stretch the video to fill the screen (consult the TV manual for information on stretching 4:3 video). To do this, turn off the DVR and then press the "Menu" button on the DVR. Choose "4:3 Override" and use the right arrow to enable this selection.
3. If the set-top box is connected to a wide screen TV, verify that the TV TYPE is set to 16:9 in the User Settings menu. Turn off the DVR and then press the "menu" button on the DVR. "TV Type" is the first choice in the menu. Use the left and right arrows on your set-top box remote to change the selection to 16:9.
4. Many HDTV programs are broadcast in the pillar box format with black bars to the left and right of the picture. These programs are broadcast in 16:9 HD formats even though the video is not 16:9.
