Check Network Card Interface Windows XP-2000-Vista

If you are unable to access the Internet, it may be due to a problem with the hardware on your computer. The best and most common method for connecting your Cable Modem to your computer is through your Network Interface Card. This is also known as your Ethernet Card. This piece of hardware is located on the back of your computer and allows you to access to the Internet. It may be necessary to check the status of this device to ensure it is working properly. To do so, follow the steps below:

1. Click on Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.

2. Once inside the Control Panel, click the icon labeled ‘System’.

3. In the System Properties window that appears, click on the ‘Hardware’ tab.

4. Next, click once on the ‘Device Manager’ Button.

5. Next, you will see a complete list of all the hardware devices that are installed on your computer. You will notice that these devices are listed in alphabetical order. Locate and click on ‘Network Adapters’. This will show you the type and manufacturer of your Network Interface Card.

6. Click on the Network Interface card that is located under ‘Network Adaptors’. This will bring up the properties window for your Network Interface Card. On the ‘General’ tab of the properties window, you will see the device status and whether or not it is working properly.
